The hugely successful Toyota 4Runner is one of the most popular and capable mid-sized SUVs around. It has the legendary durability of Toyota's truck line, while maintaining the comfort and style of a family-friendly cruiser. But when bestowed with the capabilities and performance upgrades that come with the TRD package, the 4Runner becomes a true off-road machine. Now for the upcoming 2017 model year, the new 4Runner will be available in a TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium trim level.

These new trim levels replace the 2016 4Runner Trail trim level, and bring along with them more of the capabilities of the top-end TRD Pro model-which is still in the lineup for 2017. Now the 4Runner family will consist of the SR5, SR5 Premium, Limited, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro models. This expansion of the TRD badge and its premium off-road components is designed to give true off-road enthusiasts more of a choice when it comes to great performance in any condition.

2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road Features

When they make their debut later this year, the new 4Runner TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium models will have more features and more styling cues than the outgoing 4Runner Trail. They'll be fitted with Toyota's Multi-Terrain Select system, which lets the driver select the right mode to match current conditions. They'll also come with the Crawl Control program that uses brakes and throttle control to automatically maintain the optimum speed over rugged terrain.  Both of these features will be standard on the 2017 4Runner Off-Road and Off-Road Premium trims.

For even more off-road capability, the available Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System automatically adjusts the suspension for better wheel articulation over rough terrain and uneven surfaces. Finally, the 4Runner's legendary electronically controlled locking rear differential helps to maintain constant power output to the rear wheels under varying conditions.

Special Badging and Trim

To go along with the new 2017 4Runner Off-Road and Off-Road Premium models, new badging and insignias will be displayed prominently on both vehicles. This includes special badges on the C-pillar and floor mats, as well as red embroidered TRD emblems on the headrests for the Premium model. Also new is the carbon-fiber center console trim and additional TRD badging on the instrument panel. Special 7-spoke alloy wheels will also set the Off-Road models apart from the rest of the 4Runner family. These 17-inch wheels are polished silver colored, with black inserts that serve to create a dramatic floating star look.

The new 2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road and Off-Road Premium models are expected to be available at the end of this year, and will be at our dealership here in Denton for you to check out.
